Part of the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship, the Philadelphia Cup pits area teams in high-stakes action at Talon Energy Park & Academy Fields in Philadelphia, June 4-5, 2016.

The following was published on the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship website on April 26. The Princeton women traveled to Hong Kong in March on their first-ever trip to Asia, and have been otherwise very busy this spring. In addition to hosting the Rickerson Cup and the Women's Ivy 7s, they came in 4th in the West Chester 7s and 2nd overall at the Penn State 7s on May 15, winning 4 out of 5 games.

The Dartmouth Rugby Football Club went 3-3 on the day at the Army 7s on May 15, including victories over Penn State and Army.

Brown women’s rugby coach Kathy Flores has been named one of eight 2016 inductees into the U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame. An awards ceremony and dinner will take place June 4 at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, during the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship.

The College Championships come to Cary, NC May 27-29, 2016. Competition will include Men's DI, DII and Women's DI, DII/DIII.

The Harvard and Dartmouth women's rugby teams closed out their regular season Saturday at the Varsity 7's Championship hosted by Army. The Crimson went 1-2 in its pool play contests before being edged in the Cup Semis by AIC, 15-12.

Dartmouth hosted the 2016 Ivy League 7s Tournament in Hanover, NH on April 30. With the whole Ivy League present except for Princeton, Dartmouth entered two teams into the tournament. The Big Green looked to defend its home turf and did not disappoint, with both the A and B side teams sweeping their respective brackets to secure a first and second place finish.

Led by Captain Anteneh Sarbanes ’16, Princeton won the 15th annual Koranda Cup match 31-19 against Yale University, retaining the Cup for the 5th straight year. The annual meeting between Princeton and Yale took place April 23 at Rickerson Field. 

With a new coach and expanded staff, the rugby team at the University of Pennsylvania is gaining a higher profile at the school. An article in Penn’s newspaper, the Daily Pennsylvanian, outlines the team’s recent efforts to position itself as a significant power in the highly competitive Ivy Rugby Conference.

The Harvard women's rugby team claimed its first Ivy 7's Championship Saturday at Rickerson Field, overpowering Brown, 17-5, in the Cup Final to cap an undefeated day at 4-0.

Princeton played in the inaugural West Chester 7s Tournament on April 16, coming in 4th overall.The Tigers were first in their pool, beating Kutztown, Dartmouth and eventual tourney winner AIC in pool play.

At Brophy Field on Saturday, April 16, BYU defeated Dartmouth 75-15 to move on to the 2016 Varsity Cup semifinal against Arkansas State.

Harvard fell to a seasoned James Madison University squad in Harrisonburg, Va.on Saturday. Down by 22 at the half, Harvard was unable to stop JMU's offensive drive despite winning some penalties and showing control over many aspects of the game. At the final whistle it was JMU 49, Crimson 16.

April 10, 2016

Harvard took care of business on Sunday, holding Cornell at bay for a 21-14 victory in the championship game of the Ivy 15s Spring Playoffs. The Crimson scored first and led for most of the game.

Big Green pulled out the big win, defeating Penn State 30-25 in the first round of the Varsity Cup. As reported by Goff Rugby Report, Dartmouth’s powerful offensive line kept Penn State off balance and frustrated as penalties took their toll. Trailing at halftime, Penn State stayed in it but was never able to catch Big Green, who was able to capitalize on every scoring opportunity.

The Ivy Rugby Conference is not affiliated with the Council of Ivy Group Presidents ("The Ivy League"), which organizes
intercollegiate athletic competitions at the varsity level. The name "Ivy Rugby" is used with The Ivy League's permission.
